At Centro Pecci in Prato, from 16th of March to 9th of June 2024, opens the exhibition Alfredo Volpi Lucca-São Paulo, 1896-1988.
The exhibition aims to retrace, thanks to a series of archive documents, Volpi’s artistic career and central role in 20th century Brazilian art: Alfredo Volpi was in fact born in Lucca in 1896 but emigrated to Brazil with his family in 1898 .
So for the first time comes to Italy more then 70 artworks telling about the most relevant moments of his career. from the first attempts with paint the 40’s to the most iconic 60’s artworks. During his life Volpi exhibited more than once his paintings in Italy: in 1963 the Brasil Embassy in Rome hosted one of his solo exhibition, followed the next year by the Venice Biennale.
