Friday December 1st 2023 begins int Sant’Ignazio di Loyola church in Rome, the exhibtion “Monne e Madonne. The seventeenth century in Naples, another Renaissance” cuarated by the Fondazione De Chiara De Maio in Solofra.
The title of the exhibition refers to two terms that in the Middle Ages were used as a name of honor (Madonna) and its respective abbreviation (Monna) to indicate a woman of high society.
The exhibition will highlight the painters’ effort to enhance the physical harmony or strength of women’s feelings, through artworks that are somehow related with Naples and the South, the land of the most important artists of the seventeenth century.
The exhibtion will be open until January the 7th 2024.
