Gioconda, are you coming back to Milan?

The Gioconda could return to Milan and this time it’s not a joke, but an offer.

The Chairman on Louvre, Laurence des Cars, he denounced the conditions of degradation and the «multiplication of failures» in which the most famous museum in the world finds itself, so much so that even the Mona Lisa suffers, which, according to des Cars, deserves a different and better location. His words.

Which one? Lombardy would be ready to host it and, consequently, Milan where there is always room for Leonardo da Vinci.

The Mona Lisacould return to Italy right in view of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and just saying it makes a certain impression. Let’s admit it.

But what’s happening at the Louvre?

The president of the Louvre sent a letter to the French Minister of Culture, denouncing the museum’s no longer flourishing conditions.

Up to this point there would not be any great news but this same letter, strictly confidential, was promptly found and published by the French newspaper Le Parisien.

The Louvre Needs Help (And So Does the Mona Lisa)

In the letter, des Cars complains about the decidedly discouraging and, in his opinion, antiquated conditions in which the Louvre finds itself: the museum is no longer able to handle such an influx of visitors, as are the works which also suffer from temperature changes in the rooms due to systems that are too obsolete.

He did not even spare the Pyramid which, despite being the symbol of the museum, apparently turns out to be impractical and, in summer, presents obvious temperature problems due to the excessive heat inside.

The Mona Lisa (wich has never been restored) has always been placed in a room far from Leonardo’s other works and is not even accompanied by any information board. It is available for selfies, that’s for sure.

In short, not exactly a pleasant situation that Macron himself should intervene on soon.

In the meantime Milan waits, maybe this time ….
