Banksy painted for 50 pounds.

La BBC posted photos of the world’s most famous graffiti artist, when he wasn’t yet an internationally renowned star.

It was the 90s and Banksy was called by Peter de Boer, at the time employed at a youth center in Lawrence Weston in Bristol, to paint with the kids. Hired for just 50 pounds

The photos are there, yes, but Banksy’s face is not.

The English newspaper was given the condition of obscuring his face, in order to maintain the aura of mystery that has surrounded him since time immemorial.

If you were hoping to admire the walls painted by Banksy and Lawrence Weston, we are sorry to disappoint you but they are no longer there, what remains is only what can be glimpsed in the photos.

Peter himself admitted, without particular regret, to having (several times) painted over those murals.

In his defense, it must be said that he could not have foreseen the future, much less imagined who that boy in the sweatshirt and cap would become in a few years.

In short, the identity of the Bristol artist has not been revealed (not that anyone expected otherwise, one might say), but thinking about the value that Banksy has today, in the art world, it makes you smile to see him in the ancient guise of a common mortal.
