Contemporary Art in Florence

The two institutions, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Fondazione Sandretto, join forces to celebrate some of the most important figures in contemporary art.

From Maurizio Cattelan, Cindy Sherman, Damien Hirst, Lara Favaretto, William Kentridge, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Sarah Lucas to Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and many others.

Reaching for the Stars unfolds in a curated exhibition featuring over 70 works and explores the most significant artistic movements through the works displayed in the spaces of the Renaissance palace.

The exhibition includes various artistic media: painting, sculpture, installations, photography, video, and performance art to offer visitors a journey into the world of global art over the past decades.

The exhibition, thanks to the caliber of the involved artists, aims to offer visitors a reflection on the present and future of art, examining its variety, evolution, and relationship with contemporary society.

The exhibition includes significant works by British artists such as Damien Hirst, Anish Kapoor, and Sarah Lucas alongside Maurizio Cattelan, a key figure in the landscape of contemporary Italian art; other artists featured are Paola Pivi and Lara Favaretto.

These explore different themes: identity, the body, and contemporary myths, addressing issues such as fragility and alienation, racial and gender discrimination, and the relationship between community and individual.
