The new year has arrived, and so have the exhibitions of 2023 for the month of January.
I Love Lego at Loggiato San Bartolomeo in Palermo until June 4, 2023
I LOVE LEGO is an exhibition at the Loggiato San Bartolomeo in Palermo dedicated to miniature worlds, entirely made with LEGO bricks.
True works of architecture and engineering have been created, ranging from the ideal contemporary city to the legendary adventures of pirates, from medieval landscapes to the splendors of Ancient Rome.
The I LOVE LEGO exhibition also features oils inspired by great masterpieces of art history, reinterpreted and transformed into “LEGO men” by contemporary artist Stefano Bolcato: combining his passion for LEGO and his art – through an oil painting technique – he creates assemblage forms particularly inspired by the “magnetism” of Renaissance portraits.

Galileo Chini Ceramics between Liberty and Deco at the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza until May 14, 2023
The MIC – International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza dedicates a major exhibition to Galileo Chini from November 26, 2022, to May 14, 2023.
The exhibition titled “Galileo Chini. Ceramics between Liberty and Deco” showcases about two hundred pieces including ceramics and preparatory drawings, true documents of the activities of the two factories founded by Galileo Chini: “The Art of Ceramics”, established in Florence in 1896, and the “Fornaci San Lorenzo” opened in 1906. The ceramics gained fame for their refined decorations initially inspired by floral motifs in the Liberty style and Botticelli-influenced female figures, later characterized by metallic luster glazes, decorative synthesis, and a varied range of stoneware.

The Creators of Eternal Egypt at the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza until May 7, 2023
“The Creators of Eternal Egypt. Scribes, artisans, and workers at the service of the pharaoh” is at the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza until May 7, 2023 and is the latest major international exhibition in the “Great Exhibitions in the Basilica” series.
Curated by the Egyptian Museum “The Creators of Eternal Egypt. Scribes, artisans, and workers at the service of the pharaoh” tells the daily life in ancient Egypt, with a particular focus on Thebes and Deir el-Medina, the village founded around 1500 BC, where scribes, designers, and artisans worked to build and decorate the tombs of the pharaohs in the Valleys of the Kings and Queens.
The exhibition brings together more than one hundred eighty objects, of which about 160 come from the Egyptian Museum and 20 from the Louvre in Paris: masterpieces of statuary, decorated sarcophagi, papyrus scrolls, bas-reliefs, painted stelae, amphorae, and amulets. Many hidden treasures, mostly from the collections of the Egyptian Museum, will be unveiled during the exhibition.

It includes the most iconic works of his production such as Hand with Reflecting Sphere (1935), Bond of Union (1956), Metamorphosis II (1939), Day and Night (1938) and the series of Emblemata, which belong to the common imagery associated with the great artist.

Mauro Bolognini A Nouveau Regard at the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi in Pistoia until February 26, 2023
Until February 26, 2023, Pistoia Musei presents to the public MAURO BOLOGNINI | UN NOUVEAU REGARD at the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi in Pistoia. Film, theater, and the arts will be showcased at the Palazzo Buontalenti and the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, in the historic heart of the city of Pistoia.
About 200 items including posters, sketches, costumes, paintings, photographs and stage materials will be featured in an exhibition that aims to comprehensively reconsider Bolognini’s work and expand the research on his work and figurative expression to a European dimension, a result of a sensitivity honed in youth under the influence of French cinema.
Hence the title of the exhibition, which ideally emphasizes the contribution that the culture from across the Alps has offered to the work of the Pistoia director.
