Robert Capa
Capa was born in Budapest in October 1913. He became interested in photography as a child, finding his first job in a photography studio.
He later collaborated with international photographers beginning what would be an extraordinary career.

Capa, the reportages and the war
Robert Capa In History celebrates the extraordinary life of the photographer, who became one of the greatest war reporters: through seven sections, the most important black and white reportages created by Capa are narrated.
An incredible and dense journey from his beginnings between Berlin and Paris to the Spanish Civil War; from the Japanese invasion of China to the Second World War; from the travel reportage in the Soviet Union to that on the birth of Israel, up to his last assignment as a war photographer in Indochina.
Robert Capa distinguished himself by always being on the front lines, ready to capture the crucial moment of every action, seizing its dynamism and strength.
Not only war shots but also portraits of the most important figures of the time: from Trotsky to Picasso, to his writer friend John Steinbeck with whom he undertook the journey beyond the Iron Curtain in ’47.

Robert Capa In History
Robert Capa is at the Mudec in Milan until March 19, 2023 with the exhibition Robert Capa In History.
The Mudec pays tribute to the great Hungarian photographer with a solo exhibition that retraces the main war and travel reportages.
Robert Capa was only 25 years old when he was defined as “the greatest war photojournalist in the world”.
The exhibition brings together an exceptional core of photographs: over 80 photographic prints, some of which have never been exhibited before in an Italian exhibition, accompanied by some period documents from the Magnum collection.
With his black and white portraits and his war and travel reportages, the photographer’s lens revealed to the world not only the horrors and miseries of the many armed conflicts that characterized the last century and the faces of the men and women who made History, but also the everyday life of small moments of joy and desire for redemption, of present and future, of reality and dreams of ordinary people, regardless of one side or the other of the globe.
However, in Milan, there is not only Capa, for all the other unmissable exhibitions we also recommend: Exhibitions in Milan 2023: the five not to be missed.
