Il terzo appuntamento del nostro tour estivo tra le meraviglie italiane ha come protagonista la Sardegna più selvaggia. Vi porteremo alla scoperta del suo lato artistico inedito ed inesplorato. Mettetevi comodi e preparatevi a prendere appunti!

1 – Archaeological Area “Su Nuraxi”, Barumini

The archaeological complex of Barumini is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Sardinia. The site is part of the Regional Directorate of Museums of Sardinia (formerly the Museum Pole) and was declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. “Su Nuraxi” consists of more than one nuragic tower and resembles a beehive. The site is a testament to the ancient nuragic civilizations of the island that inhabited it for over 2000 years.
If you truly want to know the cultural and historical heart of Sardinia, then you must visit this unique site.

2 – National Archaeological Museum, Cagliari

Another museum of the Regional Museums of Sardinia is the Archaeological Museum of Cagliari. The museum houses the richest archaeological collection in all of Sardinia, from prehistory to the Early Middle Ages, with over 4000 objects.

The museum is located in the so-called “Citadel of Museums” and enjoys a splendid panoramic view of the city. Definitely not to be missed are: the statue of the “Mother Goddess”, one of the most evocative objects in the exhibition, and the Stele of Nora, the oldest inscription in Phoenician alphabet.

3 – Civic Archaeological Museum Giovanni Marongiu, Cabras

We move towards Cabras where the homonymous civic museum is located. Here we find a vast collection of artifacts from the necropolis of Monte Prima. Among the remains found, the “Boxers“, impressive male statues made of stone, certainly stand out. The sculptures were part of the Nuragic society of the Early Iron Age. You can conclude your visit by discovering the wreck of a Roman merchant ship discovered in the late 1980s.

4 – MAN – Museum of Art Province of Nuoro

In our selection of 6 Sardinian museums, we could not miss the MAN Museum, Museum of Art Province of Nuoro, one of the first museums to become an Artsupp Partner. 6 – Museo La Stazione dell’Arte Maria Lai, Ulassai

The name “La Stazione“ also derives from the perception of the place as a point of departure and arrival, just like the threads and art of Maria Lai, made of connections and bonds. For those unfamiliar with the artist, this is undoubtedly a great opportunity to discover her, and we assure you, you will not be disappointed.
