Flavio Favelli The Masters Gold Series at GAM in Turin until November 6

The GAM in Turin presents The Masters Gold Series by Flavio Favelli.
The exhibition features a single work composed of 278 monographic booklets from the well-known series The Masters of Color by Fratelli Fabbri Editori, released in newsstands between 1963 and 1967. At the time, this event represented a true cultural phenomenon: they became a symbolic object, a declaration of belonging to a growing social class, intertwined with a desire for culture and well-being.

The 278 booklets/collages are displayed in three rows, fully embracing the space of the Wunderkammer of the GAM.

Flavio Favelli has worked between graphic design and the photographic cutting of pictorial details. To conceal the faces in the paintings, some of the scenes or simply portions of the paintings, Favelli used one or more golden wrappers from Ferrero Rocher.

The artist thus performs a perhaps necessary gesture to give new meaning to images that are too well-known, even too winking in their acquired emblematic nature.

DARIO ARGENTO The Exhibit at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema until January 16, 2023

DARIO ARGENTO – THE EXHIBIT is at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema until January 16, 2023.
DARIO ARGENTO – The Exhibit offers a comprehensive journey through the works of Dario Argento, starting from the early days of The Bird with the Crystal Plumage to his latest work Black Glasses, from 2022.

The exhibition continues through the entire career of the director and screenwriter, built on the boundary between genre cinema and auteur cinema. DARIO ARGENTO – The Exhibit presents for each title in the director’s extensive filmography curiosities, quotes, photographs, film sequences, sketches, posters, costumes, mechanized creatures, and soundtracks.

Among the exhibited collections are also works from high fashion houses that created costumes and jewelry for Argento, and creations by Italian masters of special effects. For the first time, an exhibition project composes a complete and articulated visual discourse on the imagery that the Roman director has brought to the screen throughout his fifty-year journey in the disturbing territories of nightmare.

Animals at Court Lives Never Seen in the Royal Gardens at the Musei Reali di Torino until October 16, 2022

Animals at Court. Lives Never Seen in the Royal Gardens on display at the Musei Reali di Torino is part of the broader project Lives on Earth that began in 2021 with the exhibition Animals from A to Z.
With Animals at Court. Lives Never Seen in the Royal Gardens, the Musei Reali aim to create an innovative visiting path where the techniques and languages of contemporary art dialogue with the framework of the ancient residence.

Numerous Italian artists, each with their own expressive language and free choice of executive techniques and materials, have been invited to present their interpretation of the animal world. Within the framework of the historic residence, the exhibition transforms the Royal Museums into a place of wonder and knowledge, where the public is invited to move as if in a colorful and lively zoo.

Among the artists on display are Mariagrazia Abbaldo and Paolo Albertelli, Maura Banfo, Nazareno Biondo, Nicola Bolla, Stefano Bombardieri, Jessica Carroll, Fabrizio Corneli, Cracking Art, Diego Dutto, Ezio Gribaudo, Michele Guaschino, Luigi Mainolfi, Gino Marotta, Mario Merz, Pino Pascali, and Velasco Vitali.

We Are the Revolution Art in Italy 1967 -1977 at CAMERA-Italian Center for Photography until October 2, 2022

We Are the Revolution Art in Italy 1967 -1977 is on display at CAMERA – Italian Center for Photography.

With this exhibition, the center continues its journey of enhancing the role of photography among the great languages of the twentieth century, focusing on a decade of the Sixties and Seventies, an extraordinarily rich period of visual, intellectual, and social stimuli.

We Are the Revolution tells the atmosphere of those years through experimentation, research, and the invention of new artistic forms. The protagonists are the artists, their faces, and their bodies: photography is the testimony, for example, of the birth of Arte Povera in Turin – one of the most important movements of the second half of the century – or of the great events that transform exhibitions into unpredictable happenings involving entire communities, as in the case of the historic exhibition held in Amalfi in 1968: revolutionary years in every field, which photography recounts through iconic shots.

Daniela Ortiz. And We Will Gather the Knowledge of Our Resistances at the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation until October 2, 2022

The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, until October 2, presents Daniela Ortiz. And We Will Gather the Knowledge of Our Resistances.
The exhibition features various works such as paintings, embroideries, and installations, focusing on themes of childhood education and the transmission of knowledge as tools of resistance against historical and contemporary forms of colonialism.

And We Will Gather the Knowledge of Our Resistances is an exhibition that puts into dialogue a series of artworks that narrate and reclaim those memories and figures of anti-colonial history that have resisted the erasure strategy of imperialism. From Fernandito Tupac Amaru, son of the Andean revolutionary leaders Tupac Amaru and Micaela Bastidas, to the children and newborns of the Global South territories who are victims of violent eugenic policies, the works portray and create a visual memory of the persecution against childhood, reproductive and familial rights of those who have faced power by nurturing, caring for, and raising their communities.
