Olafur Eliasson, the artist
Olafur Eliasson is a contemporary Danish artist of Icelandic descent.
Born in 1967, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He is best known for exhibiting the installation The Weather Project at the Tate Modern in London.
In the same year, he participated in the 50th Venice Biennale Venice and subsequently exhibited and collaborated with major artistic institutions around the world: Fondation Louis Vuitton, Versailles, Long Museum in Shanghai, Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul, Fondation Beyeler, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and many others.
Eliasson works with various media such as video, painting, sculpture, photography, and installations that are often specifically designed based on the spaces where they will be displayed.

Olafur Eliasson: in his time
Olafur Eliasson In His Time is the largest exhibition ever held on the Danish artist in Italy.
The prestigious venue of Palazzo Strozzi hosts, spread throughout all the spaces, the immersive installations of the artist, whose main goal has always been to place the viewer at the center of the artistic experience.
With “In His Time”, Eliasson indeed invites the public to reflect on how to experience reality. The latter is presented through elements that are characteristic of his artistic research such as light, color, and water which, when mixed, interact both with the external environment and with the senses of those who observe them.

Olafur Eliasson among the must-see exhibitions of 2023
The exhibition path unfolds across all floors of the Renaissance palace.
Starting from the courtyard, here you will find Under the Weather, one of the artist’s most famous works, suspended 8 meters high.
Ascending to the noble floor, flooded by a condition of predominant darkness, one encounters fundamental works for understanding the history and career of Eliasson from his beginnings to today: from How do we live together? to the poetic Beauty, up to Room for one colour.
