Jago, Banksy, TvBoy and other countercurrent stories at Palazzo Albergati in Bologna until May 7, 2023
Palazzo Albergati in Bologna hosts, until May 7, 2023, the exhibition Jago, Banksy, TvBoy and other countercurrent stories. The works on display are the most provocative, unconventional, and revolutionary of our time.
The exhibition features as many as 60 works, telling some of the most extreme and transgressive stories of public art in Italy and internationally, through the dialogue between the mysterious English artist and the most influential Italian artists of the moment.
Jago, Banksy, TvBoy and other countercurrent stories is indeed a triple monographic exhibition featuring the most significant works of each: from Girl with Balloon to Bomb Love by Banksy; Apparato circolatorio and Memoria di sé by Jago; the series of kisses and the series of heroes by TvBoy, along with iconic pieces by the artist such as the “modernized” couple. Also on display are Obey with the famous poster Hope, Mr. Brainwash, and Pau with his series of Santa Suerte.

Milano from Romantic to Scapigliata at the Castello di Novara until March 12, 2023
The Castello di Novara hosts until March 12, 2023 the exhibition Milano from Romantic to Scapigliata.
It features around seventy masterpieces created by the major figures of nineteenth-century figurative culture active in Milano.
The exhibition narrates the turbulent decades in which Milano witnessed the fall of the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy, the establishment of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia, and the second Austrian domination, the first popular uprisings, and the wars of independence that in 1859 would lead to liberation.
The exhibition path of the exhibition is divided into different sections that follow the layout of the Visconti Sforza Castle and retraces the evolution of Lombard painting from Romanticism to the Scapigliatura, a cultural phenomenon that emerged in Milano in the sixties, involving poets, writers, musicians, and artists united by a profound intolerance towards the conventions of bourgeois society and culture.

Picasso and Guernica until February 19, 2023 at MAN – Museum of Art Province of Nuoro
The MAN of Nuoro, seventy years after the historic exhibition at the Palazzo Reale di Milano in 1953, pays tribute to Guernica by Pablo Picasso. A work that is a testament to its time and carries a universal message, tragically still relevant today.
The exhibition also celebrates the first exhibition of Picasso that presented the complete series of the Suite Vollard twenty years ago at the MAN of Nuoro, in collaboration with the Reina Sofía of Madrid, which is also a partner in this new important project.
From September 23 to December 31 of 1953, Guernica was indeed exhibited in the Hall of the Caryatids of the Palazzo Reale di Milano, along with more than three hundred other works by the Spanish master, forming the largest retrospective of Picasso ever held in Italy.
Today, Guernica no longer travels; it never leaves its room at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid. However, seventy years after the historic exhibition at the Palazzo Reale di Milano, the MAN in Nuoro celebrates the Italian passage of Guernica, which is symbolically and artistically fundamental for a generation of artists, art critics, and Italian citizens.

Renato Leotta at Macte in Termoli until January 29, 2023
Renato Leotta is at the Fondazione Macte in Termoli until January 29, 2023 with his solo exhibition The Threshold, curated by Caterina Riva.
Through a series of film and sculptural works displayed in the exhibition, Leotta proposes “a narrative through images, sensations, and works, of arrivals, departures, and stasis in which time and the self become one.” As often in the artist’s poetic, these works take the audience to an elsewhere where there is a universal coexistence of rituals, symbols, and gestures.
For this occasion, Leotta will spend time between Termoli and the Tremiti Islands to create a site-specific work and will select some pieces from the Premio Termoli collection to be exhibited alongside his solo show.

The Kingdom of the Dead. The Southern Necropolis of Megara Hybalea at the Paolo Orsi Regional Archaeological Museum in Syracuse
The Kingdom of the Dead, on display until January 8, aims to illustrate the long collaboration between the French archaeological mission at Megara Hyblaea and the Paolo Orsi Regional Archaeological Museum in Syracuse. This is an exceptional opportunity to present artifacts from the excavations of the southern necropolis of Megara Hyblaea, housed at the Museum, of which only a small part has been exhibited so far. It seeks to trace both some aspects of the life and death of the ancient Greeks of this famous Sicilian city and the work of the archaeologist who studied them.
The exhibition, divided into seven sections, illustrates the results of careful investigations into all aspects related to burial in the archaic Greek period: personal items, pottery, jewelry, exhibited for the first time, tell visitors a segment of the life of the inhabitants of the polis Greek of Megara Hyblaea.
