Rome offers a wide cultural offering with exhibitions of modern, contemporary photography and many other initiatives.
Among these, we highlight Casa Balla, located at Via Oslavia 5, which reopened to the public on April 6 and will be open until July 15, 2023.
The house was the residence of Giacomo Balla for over 30 years and is now one of the most important testimonies of his artistic research.
Casa Balla is only open by reservation! For more information click here!

Balla between Divisionism and Futurism
Giacomo Balla was one of the leading artists of Futurism, although in the first ten years of his career, he was particularly close to Divisionism.
Starting from 1916, following the death of Boccioni, Balla became the main exponent of the Futurist movement, which originated in Italy in the early 1900s, during a historical period of great development and cultural ferment in which the myth of speed and progress emerged.
Casa Balla
Giacomo Balla moved to Via Oslavia, at number 39B, in June 1929, along with his wife and daughters, Luce and Elica.
From a common apartment of the bourgeois class, it was transformed by the artist and his daughters into a laboratory of experimentation, a workshop, a universe of functionality and aesthetics.
Casa Balla was declared a place of cultural interest in the early 2000s, after being closed for some time following the passing of the artist’s daughters in the 1990s.

It reopened to the public for the first time in June 2021 in conjunction with the exhibition “Casa Balla. From the house to the universe and back”, at the Maxxi in Rome, created specifically for the 150th anniversary of Balla’s birth.
Inside Casa Balla, art permeates all objects of furniture and daily use such as tables, chairs, shelves, easels, ashtrays, plates, and tiles, which become part of a single and kaleidoscopic total project.
