Judith et Holopherne<\/a> <\/strong>est un tableau de Artemisia Gentileschi<\/strong>, conserv\u00e9 au Mus\u00e9e Capodimonte de Naples. <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’\u00e9pisode de la d\u00e9capitation d’Holopherne par Judith<\/strong> est tr\u00e8s connu dans l’histoire de l’art, ayant d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 abord\u00e9 par de nombreux autres artistes, notamment par Caravage<\/a><\/strong> dans son \u0153uvre de 1599, conserv\u00e9e \u00e0 la Galerie Nationale d’Art Ancien Palazzo Barberini de Rome.\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deux versions de l’\u0153uvre <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u0153uvre<\/strong>, parfait exemple de peinture baroque, a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e entre 1612 et 1613 <\/strong>environ par Artemisia Gentileschi<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artemisia<\/strong> en a ensuite r\u00e9alis\u00e9 une’ autre version<\/strong> ult\u00e9rieure – toujours conserv\u00e9e aux Galeries des Offices <\/strong>– peinte en 1620. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une sc\u00e8ne aussi cruelle que celle de la d\u00e9capitation<\/strong>, bien que non confirm\u00e9e, pourrait en effet, selon certains critiques, se rapporter au viol qu’elle a subi en 1611 de la part de Agostino Tassi<\/strong>, \u00e9galement peintre et ami d’Orazio Gentileschi, le p\u00e8re de la peintre.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans l’\u0153uvre conserv\u00e9e \u00e0 Naples,<\/strong> appartenant \u00e0 la p\u00e9riode juv\u00e9nile de la peintre, on note une forte empreinte naturaliste et quelques incertitudes dans la composition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La position rigide du bras de Judith<\/strong> s’inspire du tableau homonyme de Caravage<\/strong> et en m\u00eame temps, le personnage de Holopherne<\/strong> semble avoir un certain \u00e9cho avec le sujet similaire de Rubens.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La sc\u00e8ne <\/strong>en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral appara\u00eet violente et sombre, et est rendue encore plus puissante et effrayante par le sang de Holopherne<\/strong> qui t\u00e2che les draps sur lesquels il est allong\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’exceptionnalit\u00e9 du tableau r\u00e9side \u00e9galement dans la volont\u00e9 d’Artemisia Gentileschi<\/strong> de vouloir repr\u00e9senter Judith<\/strong> sous les traits d’une v\u00e9ritable bourreau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artemisia, exception dans l’histoire de l’art<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

En admirant l’\u0153uvre<\/strong>, il vaut la peine d’analyser le contexte historique et culturel <\/strong>dans lequel elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous sommes dans la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du 1600<\/strong>, p\u00e9riode o\u00f9 les femmes ne jouissaient certainement pas d’une grande libert\u00e9 et \u00e9taient tr\u00e8s peu nombreuses \u00e0 aspirer \u00e0 devenir artistes ou peintres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artemisia <\/strong>repr\u00e9sente en ce sens une immense exception dans l’histoire de l’art : dot\u00e9e d’un grand talent depuis son enfance, elle r\u00e9ussit m\u00eame \u00e0 entrer dans une Acad\u00e9mie, \u00e9tant reconnue au m\u00eame titre que ses coll\u00e8gues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle fut la seule \u00e0 avoir le courage de repr\u00e9senter une sc\u00e8ne aussi cruelle et avec tant d’emphase, alors qu’\u00e0 l’\u00e9poque, aux femmes \u00e9tait accord\u00e9e au mieux la repr\u00e9sentation de natures mortes. Il convient \u00e9galement de noter que les \u00e9tudes anatomiques n\u00e9cessaires pour peindre des figures humaines \u00e9taient consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme scandaleuses et \u00e0 la seule discr\u00e9tion des hommes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

En conclusion, le fait que l’auteur d’un tableau d’une telle f\u00e9rocit\u00e9 comme Judith et Holopherne<\/strong> soit une femme du 1600 est tout simplement extraordinaire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
