La flagellation du Christ<\/strong><\/a>s<\/strong>to<\/strong> <\/a>est un tableau de Caravaggio<\/strong> r\u00e9alis\u00e9 probablement durant le premier s\u00e9jour napolitain de l’artiste, entre 1606 et 1607.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jusqu’au 31 mars<\/strong>, il est possible d’admirer le tableau parmi les \u0153uvres de l’exposition Au-del\u00e0 de Caravaggio. Un nouveau r\u00e9cit de la peinture \u00e0 Naples<\/a><\/strong> au Mus\u00e9e Capodimonte de Naples<\/strong>, o\u00f9 l’\u0153uvre est conserv\u00e9e dans la collection permanente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Flagellation de Christ<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 command\u00e9e \u00e0 Caravaggio<\/strong> par Tommaso de’ Franchis<\/strong> pour la chapelle familiale dans la \u00c9glise de San Domenico Maggiore \u00e0 Naples<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 ce jour, elle est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme l’un des plus grands chefs-d’\u0153uvre du ma\u00eetre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Flagellation de Christ : personnages et inspiration <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Au centre du tableau se trouve la colonne autour de laquelle est li\u00e9 Christ<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9 se tiennent les deux tortionnaires<\/strong>, respectivement \u00e0 droite <\/strong>et derri\u00e8re la colonne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Au premier plan se trouve le troisi\u00e8me, immortalis\u00e9 alors qu’il s’appr\u00eate \u00e0 pr\u00e9parer le fouet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christ<\/strong> est illumin\u00e9 au centre du tableau, avec la t\u00eate orn\u00e9e de la couronne d’\u00e9pines d’o\u00f9 s’\u00e9coule du sang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malgr\u00e9 la douleur, il semble esquisser un pas de danse qui \u00e9voque sous certains aspects la peinture mani\u00e9riste<\/strong> et qui contraste avec les mouvements m\u00e9caniques des tortionnaires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que cette \u0153uvre a \u00e9t\u00e9 command\u00e9e pour une commande publique, Caravaggio<\/strong> adopte une solution plus conventionnelle et plus conforme aux canons de la peinture religieuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La toile<\/strong> reprend \u00e9galement la Croix de Saint Pierre<\/strong> que Caravaggio<\/strong> a r\u00e9alis\u00e9e pour la \u00c9glise de Santa Maria del Popolo <\/strong> \u00e0 Rome<\/strong>. La diff\u00e9rence entre la toile de Naples<\/strong> et celle de Rome se retrouve dans l’esprit avec lequel les bourreaux sont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caravaggio peint la nature humaine <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

L’\u0153uvre<\/strong> est une repr\u00e9sentation unique de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 humaine et naturelle<\/strong> entre des contrastes nets et d\u00e9chirants de lumi\u00e8res et d’ombres, de fragments, de lambeaux de corps<\/strong> en mouvement saisis au moment de la plus haute et bouleversante tension physique, \u00e9motionnelle et sentimentale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comme c’\u00e9tait habituel dans le style de Caravaggio<\/strong>, dans cette toile apparaissent les portraits de certains hommes qu’il avait rencontr\u00e9s personnellement et qui sont \u00e9galement r\u00e9utilis\u00e9s dans d’autres \u0153uvres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’\u0153uvre<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9e par le milieu artistique napolitain, au point qu’une copie a \u00e9t\u00e9 demand\u00e9e \u00e0 Andrea Vaccaro, encore conserv\u00e9e dans la chapelle du Rosaire de l’\u00e9glise de San Domenico, o\u00f9 se trouvait la toile de Caravaggio avant son d\u00e9placement d\u00e9finitif \u00e0 Capodimonte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
