Th\u00e9o Mercier <\/strong>naci\u00f3 en Par\u00eds<\/strong> en 1984. Se form\u00f3 como escultor, pintor y fot\u00f3grafo<\/strong> y en sus trabajos utiliza predominantemente la t\u00e9cnica del collage<\/strong> y del ready made.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bad Timing: los autom\u00f3viles <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

En Villa Medici<\/a><\/strong> hay autom\u00f3viles que caen sobre el patio como aves de cuerpo herido que emiten los \u00faltimos suspiros de una radio musical dif\u00edcilmente audible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junto a los autom\u00f3viles, se pueden ver sillas de bronce que se derriten al sol aqu\u00ed y all\u00e1 en el edificio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todas estas esculturas<\/strong> dejadas a su suerte, abandonadas o aplastadas entre el peso de una pesada piedra y la fuerza de aspiraci\u00f3n de un globo de helio estirado hacia el cenit, representan un enigma cuya soluci\u00f3n se encuentra en los espacios internos de Villa Medici.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Palacios de la Memoria <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Al trasladarse a las salas de exposici\u00f3n<\/strong> que conducen a la antigua cisterna, Th\u00e9o Mercier resuelve este mismo enigma recurriendo a la antigua tradici\u00f3n de los Palacios de la Memoria<\/strong>. Las esculturas que invita a este espacio de memoria parad\u00f3jica son estructuras h\u00edbridas<\/strong> de electrodom\u00e9sticos usados y esculturas de m\u00e1rmol amputadas, provenientes de las colecciones de Villa Medici.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esta nueva serie de esculturas prestadas, atadas con diversas t\u00e9cnicas shibari, expresa el sadismo y el placer del artista al tratar las suntuosas vestigios del pasado y los residuos post-industriales del caos contempor\u00e1neo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
