Madrid<\/strong> is one of the richest Spanish cities from an artistic and museum point of view.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

When dedicing which museums to visit in Madrid<\/strong>, people would think of the most famous ones such as the Reina Sofia<\/strong> or Museo del Prado<\/strong> where artworks made by artists who have marked the course of art history are exhibited. <\/p>\n\n

Beyond the museums mentioned above however, Madrid<\/strong> is home to many other of the best museums in Spain.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

Here is a short list of some of the best museums in Madrid<\/strong> that you (maybe) don’t know about. <\/p>\n\n

<\/div>\n\n

Sorolla Museum <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

The museum<\/strong> is dedicated to the painter whose name it bears, Joaqu\u00edn Sorolla.<\/strong> It was founded by the will of his wife, Clotilde<\/strong>, who in her will left her husband’s works to the state. <\/p>\n\n

The museum<\/strong> preserves the original environments of most of the spaces and houses a large collection of Sorolla<\/strong>‘s artworks, as well as the numerous objects that he assembled as a collector during his life. It is one of the best preserved artist’s houses in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Entrance: full ticket is 3 euros, from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 8pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Cerralbo Museum <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

The Cerralbo Museum<\/strong> preserves in its rooms the original decorative apparatus typical of an aristocratic residence from the end of the 19th century, thanks to an important restoration.<\/p>\n\n

The museum aims to raise awareness of the collections and cultural heritage of the era in which it was born, under the government of the XVII Marquis of Cerralbo (1845-1922), while expanding their work to contemporary artistic manifestations.<\/p>\n\n

Entrance<\/strong>: closed on Mondays, full price ticket 3 euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Museum of Romanticism <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

The Museum of Romanticism<\/strong> is a house museum<\/strong> that houses more than 17,000 collections, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, furniture, photography and decorative arts. Through these artworks the visitor can learn more about the defined era of Romanticism which developed in Spain<\/strong> between 1833 and 1868.<\/p>\n\n

The initial nucleus of the collection was the donation of the founder of the Museum, Benigno de la Vega Incl\u00e1n to which were added important deposits, such as that of the Prado Museum, and donations, including that made by the Marquis of Cerralbo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Entrance:<\/strong> Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 6.30pm, Sunday from 10am to 3pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Thyssen Bornemisza Museum<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

The Thyssen Bornemisza Museum<\/strong> has an incredible collection featuring some of the greatest names in Western painting from Van Eyck, D\u00fcrer, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Canaletto, Monet, Degas, Morisot, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Kirchner, Mondrian, O’Keeffe, Hopper and many others. The museum houses almost a thousand works that allow you to explore the history of Western painting from the 13th to the 20th century.<\/p>\n\n

Entrance:<\/strong> full ticket (permanent collection and exhibitions) 13 euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n
