It’s about an ambitious exhibtion project<\/strong> celebrating Rubens<\/strong> as a painter deeply inspired by classic culture<\/strong> and responsible for a profound and indelible legacy in<\/strong> the history of art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pieter Paul Rubens: biographical notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pieter Paul Rubens<\/a><\/strong> was born in Siegen<\/strong> on the 28th of June 1877<\/strong> and spent his childhood in Colonia.<\/strong> He starte his apprenticeship when he was only 14 years old.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the spring of the 1600<\/strong>, he goes to Italy<\/strong> where he stayed for several years, visiting numerous cities, first of all Venice<\/a><\/strong> and later on also Rome<\/a> and Mantua. <\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rubens<\/strong> in his artistic research mixed both the classical<\/strong> and baroque lines<\/strong> of expansion of forms, of infinite rhythm, of pomp and decorative beauty<\/strong> and a background of realism that acts as a backdrop to the transfiguration of the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The birth of European painting <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The birth of European painting<\/strong> is the event that serves as a guideline for the three exhibition events<\/strong> organized by the institutions involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibtions<\/strong>, which all have the aim of celebrating Rubens,<\/strong> protagonist and absolute archetype of the Baroque<\/strong>, are part of a broader cultural operation<\/strong> dedicated to the relationships between Italian culture and Europe<\/strong> seen through the eyes of the artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rubens in Mantua <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition in Palazzo Te<\/strong> in Mantua<\/strong> reflects on the concepts of painting, transformation and freedom<\/strong>, focusing in particular on the relationship that was created between Rubens<\/strong> and the mythological culture<\/strong> in which he became interested during his stay in Italy.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition<\/strong> therefore has the objective of creating a link between artworks <\/strong>and the decorative and iconographic motifs of the Palace<\/strong>: a paradigmatic itinerary that demonstrates how the Renaissance suggestions elaborated by Rubens<\/strong> in the Mantuan and Italian years continued, evolving, in the painting of his maturity, until it was transmitted in the intellectual and artistic legacy left to his students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artworks <\/strong> in the exhibition have been chosen since they can dialogue with the myths and the interpretation that Giulio Romano<\/strong> developed in the different rooms, factors that contributed to generating in the Antwerp painter an uninterrupted harmony with the Renaissance and the Myth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
