Milan<\/a> e Palazzo Reale<\/a><\/strong> are getting ready for one of the most awaited exhibtion planned for the autumn that will be open to the public on the October 11th<\/strong> until the 11th Febbraio<\/strong>: El Greco<\/a>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

An unprecedented exhibition<\/strong> that brings, for the first time to Italy<\/strong>, an important retrospective on one of the most important figures of the late Spanish Renaissance, considered as the initiator of the Siglo de Oro.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

El Greco<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

El Greco,<\/strong> pseudonym of Dom\u00ednikos Theotok\u00f3poulos<\/strong>, was born in Crete in 1541. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

He moved to Venice<\/strong> inl 1567 starting his stay in Italy which led him to compare himself with artists such as Tiziano<\/strong><\/a>, Bassano e Tintoretto. <\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

El Greco<\/strong> got inspired by Tintoretto, changing his painting style adding elements from Mannerism and Venetian Renaissance.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

In 1577 El Greco<\/strong> left Italy for Toledo, Spain, where he lived and worked for the rest of his life. <\/p>\n\n

El Greco on display: themes and exhibition itinerary <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The exhibition<\/strong> was born following the in-depth research into the stages of the painter’s life and offers a new key to reading and interpreting it. <\/p>\n\n

The exhibition itinerary presents over 40 artworks and important international loans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The years in Italy inevitably return to the exhibition<\/strong> and with them the influence that artists such as Titian, Correggio or Michelangelo<\/strong> had on him.<\/p>\n\n

Another theme, addressed in the exhibition is the change in scale of the artworks<\/strong>, initially small and then gradually bigger. <\/p>\n\n

The Milan exhibition is divided into five main thematic areas: A crossroads, Dialogues with Italy, Painting sanctity, The icon again, the Laooconte<\/strong>, this last section is dedicated to the only mythological work created by artist. <\/p>\n\n
