Utopia<\/strong> by Kazumi Yoshida<\/strong> is at the Loggiato San Bartolomeo<\/a><\/strong> in Palermo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, inaugurated on June 3rd, is curated by Paola Nicita<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Utopia brings, for the first time in Italy, a collection entirely dedicated to the Japanese master.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kazumi Yoshida and Palermo<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kazumi Yoshida, Palermo<\/a> <\/strong>had already visited it during Manifesta<\/strong> in 2018<\/strong> and, following that trip, the designer expressed being struck by the Sicilian city, describing it as a dream, full of beauty, energy, and positivity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Loggiato di San Bartolomeo,<\/strong> the chosen venue for the exhibition, showcases a total of forty works<\/strong> – some of which were created specifically for this event – including paintings, drawings, and large tapestries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UTOPIA<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition takes its title from Utopia<\/strong>, the large canvas created by Kazumi Yoshida<\/strong> in New York<\/strong> and completed in Palermo<\/strong>, in collaboration with the students of the Academy of Fine Arts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work<\/strong> thus perfectly symbolizes the gift that Yoshida<\/strong> offers to Palermo:<\/strong> it is a true homage to the vitality and dream<\/strong> that the artist perceived while visiting the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The works<\/strong> fill the spaces of the Loggiato<\/strong> with life and colors<\/strong> featuring animals, nature, and the stars<\/strong> of the zodiac. These are particularly drawn on two large tapestries fixed to the ceiling created in collaboration with the Fondazione Antonio Ratti<\/a>,<\/strong> one of the most prestigious textile companies in Italy, renowned for its creative collaborations with major artists worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tribute to Palermo<\/strong> is also found in the representation, in Utopia<\/strong>, of one of the city’s symbolic places, namely Piazza della Vergogna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The<\/strong> artistic research <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The artistic research of Yoshida<\/strong> arises from his vital impulse<\/strong>, from the exaltation of the privilege of belonging to the cosmos and the importance of protecting its beauty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Japanese artist creates his works and, at a later stage, translates them into fabric and wallpaper, or vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kazumi Yoshida<\/strong> draws inspiration from art but also from nature<\/strong> and fashion<\/strong>, and his works reflect the influence of artists such as Jean Cocteau, Raoul Dufy, Fernand L\u00e9ger, Marie Laurencin, Picasso, and Matisse.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among his latest works is an all-white wooden sculpture created for the Cheryl Hazan Gallery in New York, and a porcelain lily of the valley for a charity event organized by the owner of Le Cabinet de Porcelain with artist Samuel Mazy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
