Venice<\/a> <\/strong>inaugurates the 79th International Film Festival<\/strong>, in the year of the 90th anniversary<\/strong> of the Festival<\/strong>, organized by the Venice Biennale<\/strong> and, for the 2022<\/strong> edition, directed by Alberto Barbera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until September 10<\/strong>, the lagoon will experience the excitement of the red carpet and the packed program of the festival, during which 68 films will be screened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Venice<\/strong> is not just the Festival<\/strong>, and for those who want to take a break from the glitz of cinema, here are five exhibitions not to miss in the lagoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anselm Kiefer at the Doge’s Palace in Venice until October 29, 2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Anselm Kiefer<\/a> <\/strong>at Doge’s Palace<\/a><\/strong> confirms itself as one of the most successful exhibitions<\/strong> in recent times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The German artist<\/strong> presents within the monumental halls of the Palace unpublished works<\/strong>, created specifically for the exhibition and placed in a perfect and engaging dialogue with those of great Venetian artists of the past such as Giovanni Bellini<\/a>, Titian<\/a>, Tintoretto<\/a>, and Veronese<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition<\/strong> is also a tribute to Andrea Emo<\/strong>, a Venetian philosopher whose thoughts and reflections Kiefer<\/strong> has studied and internalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Emo<\/strong>, Kiefer<\/strong> draws inspiration for the title of the exhibition “These writings, when burned, will finally give a little light.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection<\/a><\/strong> presents, until September 26, the exhibition Surrealism and Magic. The Enchanted Modernity<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Venetian venue<\/strong> of the museum<\/strong> hosts about sixty works from both international institutions and private collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme is that of Surrealism<\/strong> along with magic<\/strong> and the occult<\/strong> that have inevitably characterized the development<\/strong> and art<\/strong> of its major representatives: de Chirico<\/a><\/strong> with his metaphysical painting<\/strong>, Max Ernst<\/a> with The Bride’s Dressing<\/a><\/strong>, and also Leonora Carrington<\/strong> and Remedios Varo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Palazzo Grassi<\/a><\/strong> there is a major solo exhibition of Marlene Dumas<\/a><\/strong>, open until January 8, 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition<\/strong> titled \u201copen-end\u201d<\/strong> includes over 100 works<\/strong> and outlines a journey focused on her painting production, featuring a selection of paintings and drawings from 1984 to the present, as well as unpublished works created in recent years, coming from the Pinault Collection<\/strong>, international museums, and private collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many themes are addressed in the exhibition such as love and death, gender and racial issues, innocence and guilt, violence and tenderness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until October 9, 2022, coinciding with the Biennale<\/strong>, the Gallerie dell\u2019Accademia<\/strong> dedicates this incredible exhibition to the Indian artist, who is now a British citizen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A true retrospective<\/strong>, which includes both key works<\/strong> from the artist’s career and a new body of unpublished works<\/strong> created using carbon nanotecnology.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition path<\/strong> of the exhibition<\/strong> also includes a second prestigious venue: the historic Palazzo Manfrin<\/strong>, in the Cannaregio district of Venice<\/strong>, to which a significant nucleus of masterpieces originally belonged and are now displayed within the Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fondazione Querini Stampalia<\/a><\/strong> has invited Danh Vo<\/strong>, a Danish-Vietnamese artist, to curate an exhibition project<\/strong> together with Chiara Bertola for the Venice Biennale<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus was born Danh Vo, Isamu Noguchi, Park Seo-Bo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The works of Danh Vo<\/strong>, along with those of the American sculptor of Japanese descent Isamu Noguchi<\/strong> and the Korean painter Park Seo-Bo<\/strong>, establish a complex dialogue among themselves within the spaces of this extraordinary building.
Danh Vo’s works fit perfectly into the memory and weight of the history that a venue like Querini Stampalia carries. His work with objects and architectural spaces reveals a sensitivity towards time as an element connected to each of us. Vo constantly reuses his work, inserting past projects into new environments and meanings, altering the visitor’s perception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
