Pier Paolo Pasolini<\/strong> is on display in Rome<\/strong> at the three venues of Palazzo Barberini<\/a>, Palazzo delle Esposizioni<\/a>, and Maxxi<\/a><\/strong>. On the centenary of his birth<\/strong> (March 5, 1922), Rome<\/strong> celebrates his life and intellectual activity in three of the city’s most important museums.<\/p>\n\n\n

Until February 12<\/strong>, Palazzo Barberini<\/a><\/strong> hosts Pasolini EVERYTHING IS SACRED The Seeing Body<\/a><\/strong>, one of the three sections of the exhibition project<\/strong> dedicated to one of the most significant intellectuals of 20th-century Italy, Pier Paolo Pasolini.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pasolini exhibition in Rome<\/strong> explores the decisive role of artistic tradition in the cinema and visual imagination of the intellectual, from the Primitives to the Baroque, up to the subversive realism of Caravaggio<\/a><\/strong>, and the theme of the sacred<\/strong>, which, as the title of the entire exhibition series reminds us, represents the common thread of this journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pasolini EVERYTHING IS SACRED The Seeing Body<\/a><\/strong>, with its 140 works<\/strong>, investigates transversely through a “visual montage”<\/strong> the recurring themes in the research of the Italian intellectual: the body, the figure, and the images.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Pasolini and the Great Masters of the Past<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Pasolini<\/strong>, since his time as a student at the University of Bologna<\/strong>, was literally struck by the works of the great masters<\/strong> of the past and their ability to represent the bodies: Caravaggio, Pontormo, and Michelangelo<\/a><\/strong> became for him a true source of inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photographs, film stills,<\/strong> and even books<\/strong> by Pasolini are skillfully placed throughout the rooms of Palazzo Barberini<\/strong> and interact with the great masterpieces of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries preserved in the museum.<\/p>\n\n\n
