Man Ray: Protagonist of His Century<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Man Ray<\/a> <\/strong>was born in Philadelphia<\/strong> to a family of Russian<\/a> immigrants of Jewish<\/span><\/font> descent but grew up in New York<\/a><\/strong>. After completing his studies, he rejected a scholarship in architecture to dedicate himself to art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still in New York<\/strong>, in early 1908, he worked as a designer and graphic artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1912<\/strong>, he began signing his works <\/strong>with the pseudonym \u201cMan Ray<\/strong>\u201d and two years later purchased his first camera to capture them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great friend of Duchamp<\/strong>, whom he met in 1915, he co-founded the Society of Independent Artists<\/strong> and later the American branch of the Dada movement,<\/strong> which originated in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He would also become a proponent of Surrealism. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He moved to Paris<\/strong> in 1921, where he focused entirely on photography<\/strong> and published the first Rayographs<\/em>, <\/strong>photographic images obtained without a camera, which were enthusiastically received by the Parisian art community. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
