From June 23<\/strong>, the Quirinale<\/strong> is hosting the exhibition on the bronzes of San Casciano, “The Gods Return”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition<\/strong> is at the Quirinale<\/strong> until July 25<\/strong> and then again from September 2 to October 29<\/strong>, presenting for the first time to the general public the bronzes discovered in San Casciano dei Bagni,<\/strong> in the province of Siena,<\/strong> in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bronzes<\/strong> of San Casciano<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Bronzes of San Casciano<\/strong> represent the largest deposit of bronze statues from the Etruscan and Roman eras<\/strong> ever found, 50 years after the Riace Bronzes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An extraordinary discovery in every sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statues<\/strong>, mostly dating from the 2nd to the 1st century BC, have been preserved in almost perfect condition within the warm waters of the spring, which also preserved the inscriptions in Latin and Etruscan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Gods Return”: the exhibition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition<\/strong> unfolds through the centuries within the landscape of the hot waters of the ancient Etruscan city-state of Chiusi.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this area, from the Bronze Age<\/strong> to the Imperial Age<\/strong>, there has always been a tradition of bronze production, and thanks to the exhibition, visitors can discover how bronze offerings meet water not only in San Casciano<\/strong> but in many other sacred places in that territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On display, in addition to 20 statues<\/strong> and figurines<\/strong>, are also thousands of bronze coins<\/strong> and anatomical ex-votos that testify to a history of devotion, cults, and rituals hosted in sacred places where thermal water was at the center of numerous therapeutic practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
