The first Sunday of the month returns on March 1st, across Italy. Free admission is valid in all state and municipal institutions, at the discretion of private entities.

5 Museums Not to Miss:

On this occasion, we compile a list of five must-visit Museums:

  • National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome: it is currently the most representative museum of the Etruscan civilization. The National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia is located in the villa commissioned by Pope Julius III during his pontificate between 1550 and 1555, which is a splendid example of Renaissance villa.
  • Royal Palace of Naples: the palace was built in the 17th century on the ancient Greek ruins of the town of Parthenope. Domenico Fontana, one of the most important architects of the time, was commissioned to design the palace in a late Renaissance style.
  • National Gallery of the Marche – Ducal Palace of Urbino: is located in the spaces of the Ducal Palace, a splendid residence commissioned by Federico da Montefeltro. It houses a vast heritage of artworks that includes paintings and sculptures from the 13th to the 18th century, ceramics, coins, drawings, and some furnishings.
  • National Gallery of Bologna: among the most modern and important National Galleries. The visiting itinerary offers rich testimonies from the Bolognese Trecento to the Eighteenth Century featuring artists of the caliber of Perugino, Raphael, Parmigianino, Titian, Guido Reni, Guercino and many others.
  • Royal Museums of Turin: are one of the largest and richest museum complexes in Europe.  The Royal Museums have brought together in a single system the Palace with the Royal Armory and the Chapel of the Shroud, the Royal Library, the Sabauda Gallery, the Museum of Antiquities and the Royal Gardens.
