Exhibitions You Can’t Miss in Naples in 2026

For 2026, the programming of exhibitions in Naples is intense: from contemporary art and its major interpreters to 21st-century art and photography, not to forget archaeology. Here are some of the exhibitions in Naples 2026 to visit in the city.

1859 – A Russian Photographer in Pompeii: Gabriel Ivanovič de Rumine at the MANN – National Archaeological Museum of Naples

The exhibition focuses on a core of the photographic collection of the MANN, presenting for the first time to the public a series of views of Pompeii taken by the Russian photographer Gabriel Ivanovič de Rumine (1828–91), all precisely dated between March and April 1859.

De Rumine is an aristocrat and officer of the Russian armies who, since 1856, has dedicated himself to the study of photography between Paris and London. After achieving international recognition – he is a member of the Société Française de Photographie and the Royal Photographic Society – in 1858 he embarks as a photographer accompanying Grand Duke Constantine of Russia (brother of Tsar Alexander II) on a long cruise in the Mediterranean that touches, among other cities, Palermo, Naples, Athens, and Jerusalem.

METAMORPHOSIS until April 26 at the Museum and Royal Park of Capodimonte.

The exhibition, open until April 26, 2026, takes place in the rooms of the Royal Apartments on the first floor of the Museum, from the Pompeian Lounge to the elegant Hall of Festivities.

Original and visionary protagonists of contemporary sculpture, Bertozzi & Casoni (Giampaolo Bertozzi, 1957 – Stefano Dal Monte Casoni, 1961–2023) began their artistic research inspired by the famous exhibition Civilization of the Eighteenth Century, held in 1980 at the Capodimonte Museum.

Luigi Bazzani and the Pompeian House at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples

The MANN – National Archaeological Museum of Naples hosts the exhibition Luigi Bazzani and the Pompeian House

Starting from a large watercolor illustrating its ancient tiled roof, the exhibition provides an in-depth look at a specific Pompeian house: the House of the Faun. Discovered in the early 1830s, the building is remarkable for the richness and refinement of its decorative apparatus.

The gouaches, watercolors, and photographs on display, executed in the years shortly after the discovery, illustrate both its overall layout and its sophisticated decorations.

The Years: Chapter 2 at the MADRE Museum until April 6, 2026

Until April 6, 2026, the Madre Museum of Naples hosts the second chapter of “The Years”.

The title The Years refers to the eponymous novel by writer Annie Ernaux, Nobel Prize in Literature 2022.

Over time, once the urgency of the relationship with current events in which they were conceived has passed, the works are able to narrate both their aesthetic and linguistic research, as well as the context in which they were produced and exhibited. In turn, the collections in which they are preserved can be considered, from this perspective, deposits of stories, events, and transitions that are part of a shared experience.
