Depero on display in Milan: the exhibition

If you are in Milan, you must not miss the exhibition Depero Space to Space: the creation of memory.
The Depero Space to Space: the creation of memory in Milan is one of the most anticipated cultural events of 2026. An exhibition not to be missed for those who love modern art.

From February 13 to August 2, 2026, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum will host Depero Space to Space: the creation of memory.

The aim of the exhibition project is to highlight a parallelism that links the Valsecchi barons to Depero, united by the same dream of inhabiting spaces suspended between the ancient and the contemporary.

The exhibition marks the return of Fortunato Depero to Milan after 35 years since the last retrospective. The exhibition offers an unprecedented journey, allowing the permanent collection of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum to interact with Depero’s creations.

These works become guests in a unique setup specifically designed to enhance the spatio-temporal placement of artworks within a living context with a well-defined identity.

Works and masterpieces on display

Hosting over forty works from the 1930s to the 1950s, coming from the Casa D’Arte Futurista Depero and the Mart – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum aims to further strengthen its role as the ‘House of Collections’.

A house museum created towards the end of the 19th century by two brothers who set up their home in late Renaissance style, with paintings and applied art artifacts.

Having lived there until 1974, it dialogues with a futurist art house dedicated to Fortunato Depero in the 1950s, sharing the same drive to find the same identity between place and artwork.
